Is this Britain’s meanest dad? April Fool prankster tells his son they’re going on a dream trip to Disneyland… only to take him to POUNDLAND instead

A father played a ‘savage’ April Fools prank on his young son by convincing him they were going to Disneyland only to take him to Poundland instead.

Comedian Joe Heenan, of Glasgow, revealed the stunt on Twitter to a mixed reaction, with some seeing the funny side and others calling him a ‘monster’.

Mr Heenan even made his son take a suitcase to the budget store and then took a picture of his crestfallen expression to share online.

In his Tweet he wrote: ‘I told him we were going on holiday to a place ending with land.

‘He was like “Oh my god! Is it Disneyland?” He was so excited. Hahahahaha! #AprilFools’

The prank led to calls for Disney to make up for Mr Heenan’s joke and give the youngster a free trip to one of its theme parks.

Chris Greeley said: ‘Bad, daddy! Bad, daddy! @Disney @DisneyParis_EN @DisneylandParis @Disneyland @DisneylandToday @DisneyWorlds …you need to send this boy some free tickets, but make his dad wait in the parking lot!!’

Another Twitter user warned Mr Heenan he was only teaching his child not to trust anyone as he grows up.

The user wrote: ‘As a now grown victim of these ‘jokes’ please stop you are teaching him not to trust you or adults and setting him up for lifetime anxiety. Blessed be.’

One user said the joke could come back to haunt Mr Heenan in the future.

She wrote: ‘And one day he will take you to a home and say “dad, you are just staying here for a short holiday” and never come back to see you again. Maybe it will be on April 1st too!’

But dozens more praised Mr Heenan for his sense of humour and claimed he had come up with the best April Fools joke of the year.
