The alleged assailant is believed to have climbed up the balcony and made his way into the flat in Sheffield through the French doors, according to Ms Salim’s family.ADVERTISING

The mother-of-one was found unresponsive in bed by her aunt before being taken to hospital.

A 33-year-old cousin, who did not wish to be named, said: ‘We have got a big family and we are all distraught. She was found by our auntie because she was babysitting her daughter.

‘She went to the house to take her daughter back and as she got there she found Britney practically on death’s door.

‘When her auntie went in, she was unrecognisable. Her face was black and blue.’

The cousin said Ms Salim’s condition is ‘not getting any worse’ but she is still going in and out of consciousness.

‘Britney has responded well to the blood transfusion,’ she said. ‘It is just going to be a long waiting game.

‘She has woken up a few times and had outbursts of screaming. She is on morphine to deal with the pain. Her mum is just broken.

‘Police have not been able to get a full statement from Britney yet because she isn’t able to speak.’

The cousin added that Ms Salim’s family and friends have been collecting money for her daughter, Priya, who was staying with family at the time of the attack.

Detective Inspector Richard Wallis, the officer in charge of the case, said: ‘As part of our investigations into a serious assault which occurred on 12 April in the Fox Hill area we are seeking Shaka Williams.

‘Williams, 31, is known to frequent the Westfield, Halfway, Arbourthorne and Woodthorpe areas of the city.

‘If you have seen him or know where he is, we urge you to get in touch with us by calling 101 quoting incident number 561.

‘Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.’

Armed police have sealed off a mosque in London after a man was fatally stabbed on a nearby street and the attackers reportedly fled towards the place of worship.

The victim was found with stab wounds in a housing block in Cunningham Place, Westminster, at about 6.15pm today.

He was treated at the scene with help from London Ambulance Service paramedics but later died in hospital.

Officers are now searching the area near the London Central Mosque near Regent’s Park for suspects.

Video from outside the mosque shared on social media showed armed police at the gates as a helicopter circled overhead.

A police cordon is in place at the mosque following the incident, with officers flanking parts of the building’s perimeter.

Bahir Moulana said that as he was walking towards the mosque the police were pushing people back before they closed the main gate.

With a number of armed officers at the scene, the 39 year old said it gave him the ‘jitters’, especially following the recent attack at two mosques in New Zealand.

‘I saw all the blue lights and my heart was in my mouth,’ Mr Moulana said.

With worshippers eventually let out of the building, he added: ‘There was one girl who said she saw two guys run in. Someone else told me the police were chasing them.’

Mr Moulana said he saw two people being detained and put in handcuffs by the police at the mosque.

‘The police just surrounded them. I saw that at around 7pm,’ he added.

The Met tweeted to confirm that the attack was not terror-related.

‘We do have officers searching the area for the suspects,’ a Metropolitan police spokesperson said.

It said: ‘Officers continue to deal with a stabbing at Cunningham Place/Park Road, Westminster. We can confirm that this incident is not terror related. Searches for suspects are ongoing.’

A section of the A41 Park Road was also closed off by police.

Karen Buck, Labour MP for Westminster North, said of the attack: ‘Deeply saddened to hear this awful news. Police have been in contact with me and we await further details.’

No arrests have been made.

The stabbing is the 30th killing in London in 2019.

Just a month ago police chiefs up and down the country declared Britain’s knife crime epidemic a ‘national emergency’ and demanded more funding to help combat it.

Some demanded a return to stop-and-search, which has in the past led to accusations of profiling.

Richard Cooke, chairman of the West Midlands Police Federation, called for emergency section 60 powers to be rolled out across the country.

Home Secretary Sajid Javid pleaded for more more money to put millions of bobbies on the beat in a Cabinet intervention at the start of March.

He urged Prime Minister Theresa May – who was Home Secretary for six years – to sign off proposed new powers to make it easier for police to stop and search those suspected of carrying blades.

Six have been stabbed in London this evening in another night of carnage across the capital – with four teenagers wounded in separate knife incidents and one 18-year-old now fighting for his life.

At around 3.15pm an 18-year-old was stabbed multiple times in Kidbrooke, near Blackheath – with eyewitnesses claiming it happened in front of children.

Then at 4.30pm a 26-year-old man was stabbed multiple times in Beaversford Park off Martindale Road in Hounslow.

Before officers attended a second call at around 5pm to reports of a man suffering from a slash injury on Rosemary Avenue at the junction with Bath Road – also in Hounslow.   ADVERTISING

In another incident in Tottenham, a boy, believed to be aged 17, received a slash wound to his face at around 6.05pm on High Road.

And then later police confirmed a 17-year-old had been stabbed in Barking at around 7pm and an 18-year-old man had been attacked in Tooting at around 9pm.

It comes on the same day as the country’s top police chief, Cressida Dick, has said youth knife violence is at the worst level she has ever seen it.

Police were called to a road in Kidbrooke, near Blackheath, south east London at 3.24pm following reports that a male was being threatened with a knife.

Paramedics and officers attended the scene in Thyme Close and found a man, aged around 18, suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Stunned residents have told how they saw blood ‘gushing’ from a wound to his side after he was chased by a car.

Two men are reported to have jumped out armed with knives and attacked the man, thought to be aged just 18.

Children on their way home from school are understood to have seen the sickening attack. One witness, who said she was too scared to be named, described how the drama unfolded.

She said: ‘I was coming home from work when I saw a black car come speeding past me. It was going really fast. The car smashed into two others and made a loud noise.

‘Two men got out of the car armed with huge knives.

‘They were very large and fearsome. The blades were massive. I was absolutely terrified and just called the police straight away. I was so scared.’

Describing the moments after the attack, she said: ‘The car then reversed and fled. I went to see what had happened and saw this man standing up. He had an injury to his head.

‘He then just collapsed to the floor. He was totally covered in blood. It was everywhere. It was obvious he had been stabbed in his side.

‘It only happened a few seconds before. I tried talking to him just to get his name and get him talking.’

Britain’s biggest police force are targeting dozens of wanted suspects by driving around London for a week – with their mugshots plastered on police vans.

The ‘targeted week of action’ by the Met Police will include an appeal to the public for any information regarding unsolved crimes in London.

Officers have put up 38 mugshots of wanted men and women on the sides of two police vans that will be driven around the capital all week.

Under ‘Operation Venice’, police are hunting suspected street robbers, burglars and others said to be linked to moped-enabled crimes.

One suspect, Derrick Roye, 47, is wanted in connection with a burglary in which a garage door on Seymour Road, SW19, was forced open and an expensive bicycle was stolen. He was said to have left his own bike behind at the scene.
Another, Enrico Martin, 18, is wanted for failing to appear in relation to a series of linked knifepoint robberies in 2017.
Chief Inspector Jim Corbett, from Operation Venice, said: ‘These offenders have callously robbed, stolen or burgled from communities, commuters and tourists within London, often using violence and weapons, for their own financial gain.
‘We are relentlessly pursuing violent offenders and bringing them to justice, but we need the help of the public as well. Somebody somewhere knows something about these criminals and I urge people to pass any information to us as soon as possible.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that Buba Galadima has been kidnapped by masked security operatives.

This was made known in a tweet by PDP’s spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan on Sunday, February 24, 2019.

The spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign council, Festus Keyamo had earlier called for Galadima’s arrest.

According to Keyamo, the elder statesman posted a video online declaring Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate, winner of the presidential election.

He said “… In fact, Alhaji Buba Galadima, an official spokesperson for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has made a short video announcing PDP as the ‘winner’ of the Presidential Election. As an official spokesperson, he is clearly acting on behalf of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and on his instruction. We, therefore call for the immediate arrest, interrogation and prosecution of Alhaji Buba Galadima in this regard. The world is watching and waiting on Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to say something on the video by Alhaji Buba Galadima.”

Keyamo had also alleged that the PDP has ordered thugs to disrupt the collation of election results.

Distraught parents had to be held back by police as they tried to reach their son’s lifeless body as it lay under a tarpaulin in the rain.

Witnesses said Nedim Bilgin, 17, was repeatedly stabbed with a large ‘Rambo-style’ knife when a fight broke out on Tuesday evening after a row with a gang.

Wounded Nedim – who was just a few hundred yards from his home in Islington, North London – tried to stagger into a nearby shop before collapsing to the pavement.

Andrea Alexander said: ‘Before the ambulance arrived there were three men trying to save his life, and his friends ran to his house to get his mum, who arrived soon after.’

Ben Lynch, 18, a lifeguard who gave first aid to Nedim, told the London Evening Standard: ‘I was at a bar across the road and heard a bunch of people screaming.

I sprinted across the road and saw blood all over the pavement and this boy bleeding out. I lifted up his shirt and started pressing down. I tried giving him CPR. I did as much as I could to help him.’

Police confirmed Nedim was stabbed several times and that two knives were later recovered from the scene.

Witness Christopher Chambers-Russell saw Nedim’s mother and father arrive just over an hour after the stabbing outside a Ladbrokes bookmakers, and duck under the police tape cordon around their son’s body.

‘Nobody but a mother could cry the way she was,’ he said. ‘It was heartbreaking.

‘A man I thought was his father pushed under the tape then the mother followed before they were stopped by police.

‘The young guy’s body was just lying in the street under a sheet outside the shops, and they were wailing as they tried to get to him.’

Three teens, aged 16, 17 and 18, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. Nedim is the second teenager, and eighth person, to be killed in the capital since the early hours of January 1 this year.

A mother told her three-year-old son to be quiet as he was crushed to death by her boyfriend deliberately moving his car seat back, a court heard today.

Alfie Lamb’s head was wedged between the rear seat and the front passenger seat when Stephen Waterson twice moved his chair back ‘as far as it could go,’ a court heard.

The three-year-old sobbed and cried out ‘mummy’ when he was crushed by up to 81kg of pressure and started making ‘choking’ noises in the car.

Witness Emilie Williams, 19, who was sitting in the back seat of the Audi, claims Alfie’s mother told him to ‘shush’ after Waterson moved his seat into him for the second time.

Waterson, 25, and Alfie’s mother Adrian Hoare, 23, are accused of manslaughter after Alfie was crushed, starving his brain of oxygen and causing him to fall unconscious.

Alfie died three days after suffering a cardiac arrest at the couple’s home in Croydon, south London.

Waterson is alleged to have become irate as the boy was complaining he did not have enough room during the journey as he sat in the back footwell, between his mother’s legs.
