Jemma Beale , from Bedfont, west London, was handed the prison sentence for perverting the course of justice and perjury after she made fake sex attack claims against 15 men – one of whom was jailed for two years and another fled the country.

The 27-year-old however continues to protest her innocence and today asked senior judges to overturn her conviction.

Her lawyers told the Court of Appeal that the judge hadn’t warned the jury about the ‘myths and stereotypes’ which swirl around false rape claim cases. 

They also claimed, even if she was guilty, she should have been given a shorter sentence because she had been abused as a child.

But Lady Justice Hallett, one of England’s most senior female judges, was one of three judges who dismissed both of the appeals and sent Beale back to prison. 

Lady Justice Hallett said: ‘This case went far further then myths and stereotypes about a complainant’s behaviour. The appellant was accused of being a serial liar who fabricated accounts mostly of a sexual nature.

‘In the light of the evidence called even if the guidance was given it would not have assisted the appellant. 

‘The system of justice has suffered considerable harm – considerable resources have been spent investigating and prosecuting crimes which never happened. There has been no indication of remorse on the appellant’s part.’

Beale’s lawyers claim the jury in her case were not warned about ‘myths’ surrounding sex attack cases

Earlier in the hearing, Beale’s QC, Gillian Jones, had told the court: ‘The learned judge erred because he failed to give a direction about the dangers of myths and stereotypes.

‘She was the subject of extensive media scrutiny in which she was vilified.

‘The effect of which might have been to further prejudice the jury in the absence of such a direction.

This reporting compounded or could have compounded these myths and stereotypes which were never corrected by way of judicial guidance to the jury.’

Ms Jones argued the jury should have been told at the outset of the trial to disregard ‘pre-conceived’ ideas about rape.

The lawyer referred to a social media post about the case which stated ‘an attractive male does not need to have sex with a whale.’

The judges appeared to accept some of the reporting around the case was ‘sensationalist’, but suggested did not vilify Beale.

Beale’s lawyers are also calling for her 10-year sentence to be cut, describing it as excessive.

Ms Jones said the judge did not take account of her past, including abuse she went through as a child.

‘That clearly had a huge impact on this young woman’s life and resulted in a rapid downward spiral.

‘This is a very damaged young lady and it clearly had a large part to play in the way she acted.’

Ms Jones added: ‘The nub of it is whether or not sufficient weight was given to what is clearly an extensive history of difficulty.’

Prosecutor John Price, QC, said the sentence and conviction were both safe and proper.

He reminded the court that how Beale texted her then girlfriend saying she was ‘glorying in his discomfort’ as she was due to give false evidence against a man in court. 

During a five-week trial at Southwark Crown Court in 2017, Beale insisted she had been raped or attacked, but a jury found her guilty of perjury and perverting the course of justice.

She made her first complaint on the morning of 26 November 2010, when she told police she had been raped by Mahad Cassim the previous night. 

Mr Cassim was tried for rape at Isleworth Crown Court in December 2011.

A retrial then took place in January 2012 in front of a fresh jury and he was jailed for seven years.

Mr Cassim served two years because of the ‘grave injustice’ before he was released. 

Beale then complained to police she was the victim of two sexual assaults in July 2012 and fabricated similar allegations against six other men in 2013, her trial heard.

Her appeal before Lady Justice Hallett, Mr Justice Warby and Sir John Royce continues.

Kelly, whose real name is Robert, shouted, screamed and at times spoke directly to the camera while being interviewed by Gayle King for CBS News in an astonishing sit-down that aired on Wednesday. 

He said he had decided to speak out to clear up the ‘lies’ against him pending his next court appearance on child sex abuse charges. Kelly, 52, is facing 70 years imprisonment if convicted on the four counts he is accused of. Three of his four alleged victims were underage when he allegedly attacked them. The incidents happened between 1998 and 2010.

None are the women he now lives with. Their families’ turmoil was laid bare in a recent docu-series where their parents and others who have lived with the singer in the past described the cult-like environment he allegedly forces them to exist in.  

At one point in their interview, Kelly had to be restrained by his publicist and he cried several times. 

Kelly described Azriel Clary, 21, and Joycelyn Savage, 23, as his ‘girlfriends’ despite both women’s families claiming he brainwashed them after meeting them at concerts. 

Azriel was 17 when he pulled her onto the stage with him and Joycelyn was 19 and met him backstage at a different show with her mother. The women were interviewed separately in an emotional segment with King that will air on Friday. Neither has spoken to their parents for years.

Records obtained by DailyMail.com reveal that most of the counts he was charged with on Friday involved girls who were between the ages of 13 and 16 at the time. 

The fourth, who claims that she was assaulted by Kelly in 2003, was over the age of 18 at the time of the alleged offense. 

Kelly, 52, will appear in bond court on Saturday and then be formally charged on court on March 8 according to court records.

And on Friday afternoon, Chicago police were handed a no bail arrest warrant to bring in Kelly after a judge signed off on the order. 

Kelly has previously denied all allegations of assault and abuse through his lawyer, who was unaware of the charges against his client when contacted on Friday afternoon. 

Aggravated criminal sexual abuse is a Class 2 felony with a sentencing range of 3-7 years in prison. 

These new charges come one week after the emergence of a rape tape that allegedly features Kelly and a minor. 

Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx spoke about the charges at a brief press conference on Friday. 

She briefly went through the charges related to each of the four victims, using only initials to identify the women. 

First was H.W., who was under the age of 17 between the dates of May 26, 1998 and May 25, 1999.

Kelly is charged with  four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse for the alleged offenses involving that victim. 

Foxx had made a very public plea for accusers to come forward last month, and there could be more charges to come. 

This comes just one day after the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office announced that Jussie Smollett had been indicted by a grand jury on a single charge of disorderly conduct for falsifying a police report. 

The speed with which Smollett was indicted had led some to question why the State’s Attorney’s Office seemed to be taking their time with Kelly but rushing through the Smollett case.

The actor, 66, appeared on Good Morning America in New York and revealed he had sought help from a Catholic priest after spending a week prowling the streets with a cosh to murder a ‘black b*****d’. 

Neeson said he ‘understood’ the hurt his words had caused but insisted: ‘I’m not racist, this was 40 years ago. I had a primal urge. I was trying to show honour for a friend I dearly loved, in a medieval fashion’.

The star, who was later hugged and kissed by black audience members on the Live with Kelly and Ryan show, said he had gone to church when he became ‘scared’ and realised he had wanted to ‘unleash’ murder on a stranger for his friend, who he said died five years ago.

He said: ‘I did seek help. I went to a priest, who heard my confession’ and also later confided in two friends and would go out powerwalking for ‘two hours a day to get this [anger] out of me’.

GMA host Robins Roberts asked him if he ‘understood the pain of a black person’ hearing his words.

He replied: ‘Absolutely, you’re absolutely right. And at the time, even though this was nearly 40 years ago, I didn’t think about that. It was this primal hatred, I guess, that really shocked me, when I eventually came down to earth and saw what I was doing, looking for a fight’.

When asked how he would feel if his unnamed friend’s attacker was white he said: ‘If he was Irish, a Scot or Brit or a Lithuanian. I know I would have had the same reaction’. 

Neeson, whose critics have said he should be banned from the Oscars and making movies, said his anger came during the Troubles in Northern Ireland where murder was all around him. 

More than 1,000 people died in 30 years of conflict between mostly Protestants, who fought for Northern Ireland to remain part of the UK against mostly Catholics who wanted it to be part of the Republic of Ireland.

‘I had never felt this feeling before, which was a primal urge to lash out. I asked her did she know the person, and his race. She said he was a black man.

‘I thought ok and after that there were some nights I went out deliberately into black areas in the city, looking to be set upon so that I could unleash physical violence.

‘I did it for say, maybe four or five times until I caught myself and it really shocked me, this primal urge. It shocked me and it hurt me. Luckily no violence occurred’.

When asked about his friend he said: ‘She passed away by the way five years ago’. 

Today he said he spoke out now to encourage others ‘to talk, to open up, to talk about these things – we all pretend we’re all politically correct.

‘I mean, in this country it’s same in my own country too. You sometimes just scratch the surface and you discover this racism and bigotry and it’s there. 

‘I remember when we were shooting Schindler’s List in Poland 25 years ago and hearing remarks from drivers who were taking us to the set thinking to myself am I hearing this right?

Brown and two other people, thought to be his bodyguard and a family friend, were released on Tuesday evening in Paris after a woman accused him of a ‘brutal and violent assault’ at a hotel.

The Grammy award-winning singer was detained Monday on potential charges of aggravated rape and drug infractions. 

The Paris prosecutor’s office said the investigation is ongoing, while the singer’s lawyer Raphael Chiche said his client ‘energetically’ proclaimed his innocence.

Earlier today a model said she was allegedly raped by three men including American rapper Chris Brown during a drug-fuelled party that turned ‘violent and brutal’ in his five star hotel in Paris.

The horrifying ordeal is said to have happened at the Mandarin Oriental in the centre of the French capital, where suites can cost more than £19,000-a-night.

It was allegedly in the exclusive hotel that the 24-year-old woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, says she was attacked by Brown, his bodyguard and a family friend.

On Tuesday night, all, including 29-year-old Brown, remained in custody at a Paris police station facing the threat of criminal charges that could see them imprisoned.

In a post on Instagram rapper Brown appears to deny the accusation saying it is ‘false’, ‘disrespectful’ and ‘against my character and morals.’ 

In an interview with French Closer magazine, the woman said she met Brown ‘through a friend’ who works at the Crystal Lounge nightclub on the Champs Elysee.

‘This friend asked me what I was doing the next day, and if I would like to meet Chris Brown,’ said the woman, who finally met the rapper on January 15.

‘I said yes and the next day, on Tuesday, I had an appointment at 11.30pm at the Mandarin Oriental hotel to meet the rapper. At the reception of the hotel, I found myself with friends of his and other girls. We went up to his suite to pick him up and we all went to a nightclub called ‘The Quay’.

The singer, 32, purchased the sprawling property as a renovation project for £3 million five years ago, but has now put the six-bedroom detached house on the market for £1.75 million.

It comes just weeks on from MailOnline revealing the home had fallen into disrepair after the musician was charged with raping a fan, 20, back in September, to which he has pleased not guilty. 

Comedian Ronnie Corbett previously lived in the home, which was said to be his pride and joy for 33 years. He passed away in March 2016. 

Oritsé has spoken before about the renovation project which appears to have been abandoned given the seriousness of the crime he has been charged with.   

The Beat Again hitmaker moved into the property back in 2013, with then girlfriend AJ Azari. The pair share a four-year-old son. The singer is not believed to be living in the property at present.

However, it’s likely Oritsé will be able to sell the property quickly as the property boasts several lavish details such as a bedroom hot tub, indoor balconies and marble detailing throughout.

The lounge could be mistaken for a theatre with a grand ceiling and huge archways for homeowners to enjoy, while the back of the room has a wooden open balcony looking out onto the room which is supported by two pillars and a huge marble fireplace.

Larissa Drohobyczer, who is part of Ms Mayorga’s legal team, told the Mirror: ‘Mr Stovall’s travel to London will be based upon discussion with London lawyer Jonathan Coad and his client Jasmine Lennard.’

Ms Lennard claims she dated Ronaldo in 2008 when he was playing for Manchester United.   

Ronaldo’s lawyers said: ‘Mr Ronaldo has no specific recollection of meeting Ms Lennard 10 years ago or at any point.
