Trump – Delivering a speech on election integrity in the battleground state of Arizona amid a forensic audit, former President Donald Trump told supporters Democrats cannot “win elections without cheating; there’s no way.”

“The preliminary numbers are a total disaster, and we’re going to go over those numbers,” Trump said Saturday night at the Turning Point Action conference in Phoenix, Arizona, which aired live on Newsmax.

“The facts are coming out. The truth is being uncovered and the crime of the century is being fully exposed.”

Turning Point USA, hosting the event, is a young conservative group.

“We will fight for truth, transparency and accountability, and we will not stop until we have restore out American birthright of honest, free and fair elections,” Trump’s speech began.

“You are the pulse of our movement. So true, and you are the ones who will Make America Great Again.

“We’re gathered here in Phoenix to show our support for election integrity and for the brave and unyielding conservative warriors in the Arizona state Senate.”

Trump praised Arizona GOP chairwoman Kelli Ward for her election integrity efforts, ripping Arizona GOP Gov. Doug Ducey.

“She is she’s really a fighter, and she fights your governor who doesn’t do a damn thing,” Trump said. “I mean, she’s fighting. He doesn’t do a damn thing.

“I called up, Kelli recently, I said, ‘why wouldn’t the governor want a an audit?’ Maybe everything will prove to be correct, which we know won’t happen.”

“Why wouldn’t somebody want election integrity? Why wouldn’t they want to know? And I would be very happy – won’t happen – but I would be very happy if they did it and everything was perfect. But you’re not going to find that.”

Trump picked up his rebuke of the mail-in ballot boxes that were disproportionately used in Democrat strongholds throughout the country in the 2020 presidential election under the guise of COVID-19, and in many cases not approved by the state legislatures.

“How about those drop boxes,” Trump said. “Where they were coming in? And Biden was getting 97% of the vote? No, I don’t think so.”

Trump outlined many of the audit allegations of examples of election fraud, or at least irregularities that require answers and information from Maricopa County, Arizona.

“When you think about the corruptness, why don’t these people want to find out the truth?” Trump asked. “The citizens of America deserve answers. We’re talking about America. You know, we’re not talking about Arizona anymore. We’re talking about the United States of America.”

Trump – Rebuking the unraveling of America under President Joe Biden, former President Donald Trump struck back at media suggesting he is attempting to “undermine American democracy,” defiantly declaring: “I’m the one that’s trying to save it.”

“They want to silence you; they want to silence your voice,” Trump told the North Carolina Republican Party Convention on Saturday night in a raucous speech.

“Remember, I am not the one trying to undermine American democracy. I’m the one that’s trying to save it. Please remember that.”

Trump called for election integrity measures, including signature verification, voter identification, and regulation on Big Tech funding like Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg’s hundreds of millions for election drop boxes in the past presidential election.

“We all know what happened with the election, and we can never, ever let that happen again,” Trump said.

Trump said America under Biden is heading to a dictatorship, although he mocked the current president for not even being the one in charge.

“We’re not going to have a country if you don’t have election integrity, and if you don’t have strong borders, our country can be run like a dictatorship, and that’s what they’d like to do,” Trump said. “I don’t even think Biden is the dictator.

“If anybody knows who the hell is running that operation could you let us know? Because I don’t think it’s Joe. But who the hell knows? Maybe it is. Maybe it is.”

The trademark Trump speech began with a vow to bring the Republican Party forward in 2022 as its top endorser.

“It’s great to be back in Greenville, with so many proud North Carolina patriots who love our country, support our military, respect our police, honor our flag, and always put America first,” Trump began. “We don’t put America’s second. As we gather tonight, our country is being destroyed before our very own eyes. Crime is exploding. Police departments are being ripped apart and defunded.

Trump – Putting to rest talk of a third party to break off from the GOP, former President Donald Trump said there will be only the Republican Party united, all the way.

“I want you to know that I’m going to continue to fight right by your side,” Trump said Sunday as the headliner at the American Conservative Union Conference on Sunday in Orlando, Florida. “We will do what we’ve done right from the beginning, which is to win.

“We’re not starting new parties. You know, they kept saying, ‘he’s going to start a brand new party.’ We have the Republican party. It’s going to unite and be stronger than ever before. I am not starting a new party. That was fake news. Fake news.”

Trump vowed at CPAC the party will fight to defeat “radical Democrats” in future elections.

“Brave Republicans in this room will be at the heart of the effort to oppose the radical Democrats, the fake news media, and their toxic cancel culture: Something new to our ears – cancel culture,” Trump said early in his speech.

“No, that would be brilliant: Let’s start a new party; let’s divide our vote so that you could never win. No we’re not interested in that.”

The speech to CPAC was Trump’s first public appearance since he left office 39 days ago. Since then, he’s kept an uncharacteristically low profile, hampered in large part because he is banned from Twitter and Facebook in the wake of the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol that led to his impeachment and subsequent acquittal in the Senate.

In emailed statements and a handful of interviews to friendly outlets, he’s blasted Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, eulogized talk show host Rush Limbaugh and made unfounded allegations of election fraud — all while avoiding questions about his future in the party.

His remarks ratified the consensus of the conference that this is not a conservative movement wallowing in its loss to Democrat Joe Biden as much as it’s a government-in-waiting, counting down the three years and 11 months for Trump to “Make America Great Again” again.

In a straw poll, 97% of attendees approved of his leadership of the party, 70% want him to run again and 55% said he was their preferred candidate in 2024. (The other top contenders were Trump loyalists: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, followed by South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem and Donald Trump Jr.)

Trump’s rousing reception at the most important conservative gathering on the calendar highlights just how much Trump has transformed the movement in just five years.

In 2016, Trump abruptly cancelled his appearance at the event amid plans for a walkout from conservatives who questioned his commitment to the cause and demands that he answer questions from a moderator like the other candidates.

On Sunday, he was the closing of a three-day festival of Trump-flavored conservatism that bore his undeniable imprint.

The conference included at least seven panels credulously discussing Trump’s claims of a stolen 2020 election despite dozens of court rulings finding otherwise.

Major figures from the Trump cabinet — at least, those still loyal to the former president — were given speaking slots: Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, Acting Director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell and Budget Director Russ Vought.

Prominent conservatives who have left Trump’s orbit were nowhere to be found, including McConnell and his wife, former Trump Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley and Wyoming Representative Liz Cheney. Even Trump’s old running mate, former Vice President Mike Pence, declined an invitation.

Trump – President Donald Trump has kept the pressure on Senate Republicans amid his campaign election challenges and a push for $2,000 stimulus checks that would be a tough order for the party’s fiscal hawks.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., has proved to be less a supporter of the president this fall, saying he considered the White House off-limits during coronavirus outbreaks, willfully jumping to defend Joe Biden as president-elect amid election challenges, and telling Republicans in the Senate to not jump on the effort to contest the Electoral College on Jan 6.

McConnell has said he considers Biden a friend.

Trump comments came in a tweetstorm from the winter White House of Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida:

“I will not stand by and watch this travesty of a bill happen without reigning in Big Tech. End Section 230 now, before it is too late. So bad for our Country. Show courage, and do what’s right!!!”

“Our $740 defence bill is a gift to China, Russia & Big Tech. It fails to terminate the internationally dangerous Section 230, won’t allow us to bring our troops back home (where they belong), renames & destroys our forts & National Monuments, & makes 5G almost impossible!”

“The ‘Justice’ Department and the FBI have done nothing about the 2020 Presidential Election Voter Fraud, the biggest SCAM in our nation’s history, despite overwhelming evidence. They should be ashamed. History will remember. Never give up. See everyone in D.C. on January 6th.”

“Where the hell is the Durham Report? They spied on my campaign, colluded with Russia (and others), and got caught. Read the Horowitz Reports about Comey & McCabe. Even the Fake News @nytimes said ‘bad’. They tried it all, and failed, so now they are trying to steal the election!”

“The U.S. Supreme Court has been totally incompetent and weak on the massive Election Fraud that took place in the 2020 Presidential Election. We have absolute PROOF, but they don’t want to see it – No ‘standing’, they say. If we have corrupt elections, we have no country!”

“A young military man working in Afghanistan told me that elections in Afghanistan are far more secure and much better run than the USA’s 2020 Election. Ours, with its millions and millions of corrupt Mail-In Ballots, was the election of a third world country. Fake President!”

“I simply want to get our great people $2000, rather than the measly $600 that is now in the bill. Also, stop the billions of dollars in ‘pork’.”

Congress is set to convene Monday to weigh the override of the presidential veto of the National Defense Authorization Act and reconsidering the stimulus impact payments, if not the foreign aid in the recently passed appropriations omnibus.

Trump on Wednesday vowed to intervene in a case brought by the state of Texas before the U.S. Supreme Court to throw out the voting results in four other states.

Trump, writing on Twitter, said: “We will be INTERVENING in the Texas (plus many other states) case. This is the big one. Our Country needs a victory!”

He also played down, in a separate tweet, a case filed against Pennsylvania’s election results in which the Supreme Court rejected an emergency action:

“This was not my case as has been so incorrectly reported. The case that everyone has been waiting for is the State’s case with Texas and numerous others joining. It is very strong, ALL CRITERIA MET. How can you have a presidency when a vast majority think the election was RIGGED?”

It wasn’t immediately clear what Trump meant by saying that his team would be “intervening” in the case. He must petition the Supreme Court to be allowed to intervene.

In a string of later tweets, several of which Twitter labeled as “disputed,” Trump continued his attack:

  • “There is massive evidence of widespread fraud in the four states (plus) mentioned in the Texas suit. Just look at all of the tapes and affidavits!”
  • “RIGGED ELECTION!”
  • “We will soon be learning about the word ‘courage’, and saving our Country. I received hundreds of thousands of legal votes more, in all of the Swing States, than did my opponent. ALL Data taken after the vote says that it was impossible for me to lose unless FIXED!”
  • “No candidate has ever won both Florida and Ohio and lost. I won them both, by a lot! #SupremeCourt”
  • #OVERTURN

He provided no details on whether it would be his presidential campaign or the U.S. Justice Department that would take action.

Officials from the four states at issue have called the lawsuit a reckless attack on democracy while legal experts gave it little chance to succeed. It was filed directly with the Supreme Court rather than with a lower court, as is permitted for certain litigation between states. The Texas suit, brought by the state’s attorney general, Ken Paxton, seeks to prevent electors from Michigan, Georgia, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania from participating in the Electoral College on Dec. 14.

Paxton’s case repeats allegations about mail-in voting that have been rejected by other courts across the nation.

Trump – If the crowd at President Trump’s Saturday rally in North Carolina was any indicator, the president’s supporters have already decided what he should do about the vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court.

“Fill that seat!” the crowd chanted as the president spoke at Fayetteville Regional Airport about who he might nominate to succeed the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the nation’s highest court. Ginsburg died Friday at age 87 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

“It will be a woman — a very talented, very brilliant woman,” Trump told the crowd of his potential choice. “I think it should be a woman. I actually like women much more than I like men.”

Ginsburg’s death has set up a fierce battle between Republicans and Democrats, with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell stating the Senate will vote on an appointee named by Trump, even if the president names his pick before the Nov. 3 election, and Democrats saying a vacancy opening so close to the election should be filled by the winner — whether Trump or Democratic nominee Joe Biden.

McConnell has faced criticism for taking the opposite stance just four years ago, after Justice Antonin Scalia died in February 2016. Back then, McConnell chose instead to deny former President Barack Obama a Senate confirmation hearing on his high-court choice, Merrick Garland, with the 2016 election between Trump and Hillary Clinton just months away.

As a result, Obama’s choice was never confirmed and Trump appointed Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court soon after taking office in 2017.

In Fayetteville on Saturday, Trump defended his constitutional right as president to put forth a nominee.

“It says the president, we’re supposed to fill the seat. That’s what we’re going to do,” Trump told the crowd.

He later told reporters his announcement could come as early as this week.

Biden, however, expressed a different view Friday.

“Voters should pick the president and the president should pick the justice to consider,” the Democrat said.

Zuckerberg – In an interview with Axios, Mark Zuckerberg shot down suspicions that Facebook is giving President Trump lenient treatment on the platform as part of a closed-door agreement.

“I’ve heard this speculation, too, so let me be clear: There’s no deal of any kind,” Zuckerberg told Axios. “Actually, the whole idea of a deal is pretty ridiculous.”

While Trump faces increasing scrutiny for rule violations on other social platforms — most notably Twitter — the president’s activity on Facebook has largely remained untouched. In October, Zuckerberg faced criticism for attending an undisclosed dinner at the White House with the president and Facebook board member and close Trump ally Peter Thiel.

“I accepted the invite for dinner because I was in town and he is the president of the United States,” Zuckerberg said, noting that he’d done the same during the Obama administration. “The fact that I met with a head of state should not be surprising, and does not suggest we have some kind of deal.”

In a company Q & A last week, the Facebook CEO defended his relationship with President Trump to employees.

“One specific critique that I’ve seen is that there are a lot of people who’ve said that maybe we’re too sympathetic or too close in some way to the Trump administration,” Zuckerberg said, arguing that “giving people some space for discourse” was not the same as agreeing with their beliefs.

While there’s certainly a notably friendly dynamic between Facebook and the Trump administration, an explicit agreement designed to benefit Facebook isn’t that likely, if only because of the firestorm it would ignite were it to come to light. The idea that Facebook could extract a deal from the president, say for less regulatory scrutiny, is also hard to imagine due to the fact that any change to regulations governing Facebook would also apply to other online platforms. When President Trump signed an executive order designed to punish Twitter for taking action against his tweets, that threat applied across the board to all social media sites, including Facebook.

Still, the Justice Department, which often works closely with Trump’s White House to pursue the president’s own agenda, can choose which fights to pick in its antitrust pursuits. And Trump’s ability to mobilize his political allies in Congress against enemies of his choosing could create headaches for a company like Facebook around claims of political bias. Facebook’s seemingly conciliatory stance toward the White House and the Trump campaign isn’t likely to have gone unnoticed.

Zuckerberg’s reluctance to criticize Trump is well-documented, but he has been slightly more critical of the administration in recent days. Last week, he held a live-streamed chat with Anthony Fauci, a key voice for the scientific community’s pandemic response — and one currently on the outs with Trump. In the chat, Zuckerberg didn’t name Trump explicitly but criticized the U.S. government’s failure to scale up national testing and the refusal for some parts of the administration to recommend mask-wearing as a protective measure.

Trump, in the wake of Thursday’s defeat at the Supreme Court in his efforts to repeal the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, called for new justices as conservatives took aim at Chief Justice John Roberts for what they called a “pattern” of siding with the liberal wing in key decisions.

“The recent Supreme Court decisions, not only on DACA, Sanctuary Cities, Census, and others, tell you only one thing, we need NEW JUSTICES of the Supreme Court. If the Radical Left Democrats assume power, your Second Amendment, Right to Life, Secure Borders, and … Religious Liberty, among many other things, are OVER and GONE!”  he tweeted.

He went on to promise that he will release a “new list of Conservative Supreme Court Justice nominees, which may include some, or many of those already on the list, by September 1, 2020.”

Trump’s call comes after the court ruled Thursday, in a 5-4 decision penned by Roberts, that his reversal of former President Barack Obama’s executive order – that shielded immigrants who came to the country illegally as children from deportation – was in violation of the Administrative Procedure Act (APA), which sets out rulemaking procedures for federal agencies.

While Democrats and immigration activists cheered the decision, conservatives fumed at the ruling, accusing the justices of preventing Trump from overturning what they have long seen as an illegal executive order. As the day went on, their ire turned to Roberts — the Bush appointee who has a history of deciding outcomes favorable to liberals by siding with the liberal bloc.

It was Roberts who, by siding with the liberal wing and reinterpreting an individual mandate as a tax, allowed ObamaCare to be found constitutional in 2012. Last year, he joined with the wing again in shutting down Trump’s efforts to add a citizenship question to the census

“Over recent years more and more Chief Justice Roberts has been playing games with the court to achieve the policy outcomes he desires,” Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, said on the Senate floor, before citing past instances of what he called “sleight of hands” by Roberts, adding: “This is becoming a pattern.”

Trump to issue executive order on social media

Trump – U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to sign an executive order on social media on Thursday, according to local media reports.

The reports, citing unnamed White House officials, came a day after microblogging site, Twitter, tagged Mr Trump’s tweets on mail-in voting as misleading.

In the tweets, the president told his over 80 million followers that voting through mail, otherwise known as mail-in ballots, was prone to fraud.

Shortly after, Twitter tagged the tweets with a circled exclamation mark followed by the text: “Get the facts about mail-in ballots” in a hyperlink.

The link takes readers to a Twitter fact-check page that debunks the claim.

This infuriated the president who accused Twitter of interfering in the November 3 presidential election, and then threatened to “heavily regulate” or close down social media platforms.

Details of the impending executive order were not provided, but Newsweek magazine offered a clue in its report.

The magazine quoted two unnamed allies of the President in Congress as saying they were willing to strip Twitter of the “special speech liability immunity it receives because of the fact-checking flap”.

Meanwhile, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly faulted Twitter for fact-checking Mr Trump’s tweets.

Zuckerberg reasoned the social media platforms should not be the “arbiters of truth”, according to the New York Post.

The paper said the Facebook CEO spoke in an interview with Fox News scheduled to air on Thursday.

“We have a different policy, I think, than Twitter on this.

“I just believe strongly that Facebook shouldn’t be the arbiter of truth of everything that people say online.

“In general, private companies probably shouldn’t be, especially these platform companies, shouldn’t be in the position of doing that,” he reportedly said.

Trump said on Saturday that he has been tested for coronavirus after being questioned about it Friday.“I also took the test last night,” Trump said during a briefing at the White House. “And I decided I should, based on the press conference yesterday. People were asking, ‘Did I take the test?'”

Asked when test results would be returned, he said: “A day, two days. They send it to a lab.”

Trump also touted the bipartisan congressional funding package passed early Saturday and the rise in the stock markets following his Rose Garden address Friday afternoon.

“I was honoured to see that the stock market, you were mostly there with us, set a record in a short period of time, over 45-minute period that we had the press conference yesterday in the rose garden,” Trump said. “That was a record. All-time record. I think we should do one of them every day perhaps. How about five times a day? We’ll do one five times a day.”

He also announced that the White House is expanding its travel ban to passengers from the United Kingdom and Ireland, also hinting that relief for the airline and cruise industry would be coming soon.

The president was joined at the press event by Vice President Mike Pence, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, Housing Secretary Ben Carson and health officials, including Seema Verma, Anthony Fauci and Deborah Birx, who have been leading the administration’s response to the outbreak. Not present was Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, whose standing has been diminished in the wake of the outbreak.

“Secretary Azar was at the coronavirus task force meeting this morning. He’s back to work, and we will have a changing round-up of these presentations so we can get quickly to your questions,” Pence said in response to a question about the absence of the administration’s top health official. “But secretary Azar is doing a remarkable job, and working seven days a week for the American people and making a difference.”

The vice president, pressed on the messaging discrepancies from the White House around whether Trump needed to get tested, told reporters he’d consult with the White House physician on getting a diagnostic himself after today’s briefing.

“Mrs. Pence and I will be more than happy to get tested,” he said, after stating that the physician on Friday night had said Pence and his wife didn’t have the “symptoms or contacts that would necessitate testing.”

He also said he’d had his temperature checked earlier.

White House staff barred at least one person from the press briefing room after checking the temperatures of journalists who gathered for the event

Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel experienced a fever and flu-like conditions Friday evening and went to a Michigan hospital for treatment, according to the RNC. She is self-quarantining at home with her family.

The president has been criticized for repeatedly shaking hands in public and on camera despite the advice of public health officials to refrain from the practice.

At the press briefing, he defended his actions but also said that “getting away from shaking hands is a good thing.”

Late Friday, press secretary Stephanie Grisham released a memo from the White House physician saying Trump had dined at Mar-a-Lago with a person who has since tested positive for coronavirus. However, Navy Cdr. Sean Conley did not recommend testing the president as a necessity.

Earlier Saturday, Trump hailed the bipartisan deal on a congressional coronavirus funding package on Twitter, adding that he’d attended a series of coronavirus-related meetings in the White House that morning.

He also tweeted: “SOCIAL DISTANCING!”

As of Saturday, the U.S. had reached 50 reported coronavirus-related deaths and over 2,200 confirmed cases.

Despite Trump’s announcement that’s he’s been tested, health officials at Saturday’s press conference urged Americans to begin isolating themselves instead of rushing to get tested if they’re not experiencing symptoms.

Deborah Birx, the White House coronavirus response coordinator said Quest and LabCorp — two private labs currently running diagnostics — are reporting 98 per cent to 99 per cent of their tests are coming back negative for coronavirus.

Though early missteps have prevented widespread testing necessary to track the spread of the virus and isolate sick individuals, Birx and other administration health officials said they were optimistic about the steps the administration is taking to ramp up testing.
