The Broxtowe MP cut loose just hours after resigning her membership of the Conservative Party to join the new Independent Group of defectors.

But she faced a personal backlash today as she hosted a live radio phone-in on LBC.

Two people claiming to be constituents slammed her decision to quit the Tories over Brexit, branding her ‘two-faced’ and ‘rude’.

Ms Soubry was among three ex-Tory MPs to quit the party yesterday to put boosters under the new Independent Group as it attempts to tear up the Westminster party system.

Mrs May defended her ‘moderate, open-hearted’ party tonight in a robust letter to the three MPs who defected to the Independent Group. 

She thanked them for their service but said they were wrong to suggest the party had been lost to a right-wing fringe obsessed with the European Union and Brexit. 

The PM met pro-EU Tories who have threatened to defect today in a bid to stem the tide to the new Independent Group. 

But without mounting pressure over no deal with just 36 days to go., even Chancellor Philip Hammond refused to rule out resigning from Government. 

She told Newsnight: ‘The only reason why she will not agree to the single market is because of free movement of people.

‘And I think what’s really worried me about Theresa, and she has history in the Home Office that supports this, because I’m an old barrister, I look at the evidence, and I think she’s got a problem with immigration.

‘I really, honestly do.’

In a separate interview with The Times Red Box podcast, Ms Soubry attacked again: ‘I think she’s in a bad place. That’s the truth of it.

‘I don’t mean this in a cruel way but I think she is absolutely delusional about the situation that she and the country is in.’

Pelosi told Politico in wide-ranging interview, however, that it’s just a ‘suggestion’ and one of ‘many’ the caucus is likely to receive on green energy.

‘The green dream or whatever they call it, nobody knows what it is, but they’re for it right?’ she said, mocking the democratic socialist’s effort. 

On Thursday morning, Pelosi announced a new committee that she’d established. Ocasio-Cortez was noticeably missing from the list of panel participants.

Neither women’s offices said why, although DailyMail.com asked both for comment.

Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds were clearly smitten with each other as they strolled together while exchanging loving glances.

To close friends who have loyally helped keep the couple’s growing romance under wraps, their cosy body language will come as no surprise. But for everyone else, these pictures offer a tantalising glimpse into Westminster’s newest power couple.

For if the former foreign secretary’s ambitions for the top job ever come to fruition, it could be he and 30-year-old Miss Symonds moving in to Downing Street together.

The couple have kept a low profile since Mr Johnson, 54, and his wife Marina announced they were divorcing last September. But behind the scenes, their relationship has apparently been going from strength to strength.

With her blonde hair tousled by the breeze, former Conservative Party official Miss Symonds’ smile as she looks into Mr Johnson’s eyes suggests a genuine commitment to the twice-married father of four, said body language expert Judi James.

And the way she tucks herself into his arm in one of the photos shows she seeks his protection.

A friend of Mr Johnson said: ‘Boris is different around Carrie. He only has eyes for her. It’s very genuine. He wouldn’t have gone through all this if it wasn’t the real deal. He just seems like a better man around her. He’s determined not to do anything to mess it up.’

After he was forcefully moved from the Police Hospital in Abuja to the Department of State Security Services (DSS) medical facility still within Abuja, Dino Melaye, the senator representing Kogi West Senatorial DIstrict in the National Assembly, has refused to enter the main building of the DSS centre.

Instead, he took position on the floor within the premises.

It was gathered that senator demanded from the security operatives the reason for bringing him to the DSS medical facility.

Afterwards, he refused to enter the hospital, since he claimed not to have been told the reason for his transfer from the Police hospital to the DSS quarters.

As such, he decided to stay put on the bare floor in the compound of the hospital.

Oba Ogunwusi gave the warning at the Grand-finale of New Year Prayer Service organised by Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ile- Ife Chapter, at Afenworo Park, Enuwa Square, Ile-Ife, on Saturday.

According to Ooni, there is no gain in shedding of blood, trouble and violence and anyone that died cannot come back to be useful to the society again.

He charged all and sundry to maintain peace and orderliness in the forthcoming elections, saying it is only God that enthrones and put his choice on the throne.

The Royal Father admonished politicians to give peace a chance and allow peaceful coexistence in all ramifications; if truly they want to go and serve humanity, politicians should desist from do or die affairs.

The traditional ruler urged youths to struggle for their future and run away from politicians that want to misuse them for political violence and selfish interest. He said that these politicians send their children to Abuja and abroad for schooling and enjoyment of lives, saying that brighter future awaits the youth in the country.

Ooni, however, acknowledged God for His mercy that endures forever over all and sundry.

While congratulating the Christians, he said that their being alive is neither by their power nor by their might, but by the grace of God.

Ooni encouraged Christians to ensure that they are devoted to God in serving Him whole heartedly and in holiness this year, for the fulfilment of promises of God for them.

He called on Christians to love each other and surrender everything to God, for He alone can do all things.

ucky Okperi, the former Delta State House of Assembly member representing Isoko South constituency 1 and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Isoko South Local Government Area of the state, his children and driver narrowly escaped assassination along Asaba-Kwale road.

SaharaReporters reliably learnt that on Friday, the lawmaker’s driver, simply identified as Rex, conveyed the lawmaker’s children from Oleh, Isoko South LGA where they went for Christmas celebration, to Asaba. On his way back to Oleh at about 5pm, he noticed that a Corolla car was trailing him.

Speaking with our correspondent via telephone, the lawmaker’s driver said: “My boss asked me to carry his children from Oleh back to Asaba since the Christmas celebration was over. On my way back, I noticed that a Corolla car with two unidentified hefty men was trailing me from Ogwashu-Uku.

“At this point, I had to accelerate. However, the car that was following ours doubled-crossed us at Ossisa town and one of the men jumped out from the car, and entered the passenger’s seat of the car I was driving. He brought out a pistol and asked me questions such as ‘where is your boss?’; ‘where are his children?’ All this time, a gun was pointed at my head. I was then ordered to drive straight to Kwale and from there, I was ordered to face Ogume road.

“I had no option than to obey and I drove into Ogume road. When we got to a very lonely forest, I was again ordered to drive inside the forest. Before I could say Jack Robinson, I was shot. As I was shot, I found a way to escape into the forest. As I was inside the forest, they started shooting sporadically and telling me to come out from the forest or they would burn my car. Before the Police arrived the scene, they had set the car ablaze.”
